The African Queen

The iconic original vessel from John Huston's classic 1951 film "The African Queen," starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn, is plying Key Largo's nearshore waters and canals again and Florida Keys visitors can take a ride on the historic vessel.

Built for the British East Africa Railway Company in 1912 (when it was dubbed the Livingstone), the 30-foot boat was originally used to ferry missionaries, cargo and big-game hunters in the Belgian Congo and Uganda. It was brought to Key Largo in 1983 and restored in 2012, in time for its 100th birthday.

The African Queen offers 90-minute canal cruises several times daily, plus dinner cruises on selected nights, from the Holiday Inn Key Largo. Costs are $39 per person for the day cruise ($25 for children under 12), and $89 per person for the dinner cruise.

We are happy to book this adventure for you!
